Duo made up 'Zoo Crew"

Watertown, MA – Mike Pedone of West Haven, CT, is a full-time student at Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA. Josh Hallee attends Wilby High School in his home town of Waterbury, CT. Both are seniors. Mike is blind. Josh is visually impaired. Both spent the summer at Perkins in the Summer Employment Program. Mike and Josh served as “Zoo Crew” interpretive guides at the Franklin Park Zoo this summer.

Primary choice set for Tuesday

Democratic voters in the city’s 12 national/state districts go to the polls Tuesday to determine who will carry the party’s banner as registrar of voters. The Aug. 12 primary ends an acrimonious campaign between incumbent Charles Marino and challenger Michelle Hufcut.

Bayer farewell cites city workers, charitable aid

There was one final act to complete before Bayer said a last good-bye to its campus straddling West Haven and Orange. Company officials joined with city, state and Yale personnel to commemorate the contributions Bayer employees made to science and health.

Campaign files notice of complaint

A series of questions concerning absentee ballot applications has turned into a complaint to the Elections Enforcement Division of the Secretary of State’s office. Stephanie Marrazzi, campaign manager for incumbent Democratic Registrar Charles Marino, filed the complaint last week.

Another longtime Westie is gone. Ed “Peepers” Warley passed away last week, one of the last links to a bygone era and way of life. A graduate of West Haven High School Class of 1929, Ed was a baseball and hockey player.

Marino, Clerk spar over ABs

Absentee ballots and the correct submission of applications may end up before state officials before an Aug. 12 primary. Campaign officials for incumbent Democratic Registrar of Voters Charles “Chuck” Marino said they are contemplating complaining to the Secretary of State’s office. If they do it would be the second time a complaint has been filed about irregularities in the campaign.
