Gyrations and machinations PDF Print E-mail

Yew’d think at this time o’ year, kiddies would be makin’ sure they were good, eating their veggies, cleanin’ their rooms and not makin’ themselves problems. Well, the kiddies are, it’s the adults who are getting underfoot.

Sweetie, tho’ things in the berg aren’t as topsy-turvy as usual, there are things goin’ on, especially in the Actors Colony that are drivin’ people to distraction. In fack, there are many who think sev’ral politicos in the Colony should get nice pieces o’ soft coal in their stockings come Dec. 24.

I told yew last week about the brew-ha-ha that was goin’ on over the supposed release of Nalini Srinivas last week. Sammy Bluejay reported a near riot durin’ the Demmies caucus at the last City Council confab. There are those who support the embattled official, whilst there are others who jest can’t wait to see her backside leavin’ the building.

I told yew, too, the in-fightin’ has to do with wether hizzoner stands up to the powers that be or let’s some petty dislike by politically connected types run the process. Hizzoner has lost some support – at least fer the time being.

Well, it looks like the powers might win, but that don’t take inta account Mizz Srinivas herself. It looks like effen the die is cast and she’s supposed to go, she ain’t gonna make it easy on anybody. Twice last week there were rumors that she had offered her resignation and twice those rumors were rebuffed. In fack, it seems effen there is gonna be a discharge, she’s gonna decide how it happens – and she wants the mayor to do the dirty woik. She certainly ain’t gonna make it easy fer him. That’s fer sure.

She may git sacked by the time yew git this missive, or it may have to go through all kinds of gyrations and machinations. One way or tother, it seems to those keepin’ an eye on this that effen and when it happens, she’ll have a hand in how.

Personally, this whole thing is jest an exercise o’ how petty certain people, particularly of a certain stripe, can be. The whole “touching” thing was political and was trumped up effen yew ask me, and it was all to git rid o’ someone a couple o’ harpies didn’t like. Unfortunately, the harpies are politically connected, and the men in their lives don’t have enuff sense to put ‘em in their place.

Meanwhile ,those supporting the West River Crossing people have not given up. It seems they’ve decided to start their own political action committee. CRED (like see red) has been formed. It stands fer Citizens for Responsible Economic Development or sum setch. I guess they figger the best defense is a good offense and their gonna try to put the city on the defensive. There’s still a lotta angry people who wanna know why the company wasn’t given a fair shake.

Tennyrate, they formed a new committee and will be workin’ to git their pernt across via whatever means possible. Then Iva Lootey sez hizzoner had lunch with a longtime supporter last week and promised he would make his much-delayed trip to Haverstraw, NY. As of this scribing that hasn’t happened yet.

Keep yore eyes on this one. Methinks it’s gonna be quite some time before we see the end of this isshew. In fack, Cobina wouldh’t be surprised effen we hear about it the same time next year.

Whot do yew know about a lawsuit by Acorn Group? Ain’t that the Beckerman group that was supposed to do something off the old Sursum Corda site and after it acquired all the land it wanted sailed off inta the sunset? Y’mean that projeck is still goin’ on? Why a lawsuit? Questions, questions.

~~~
I mentioned to yew last week that there might be as many as two candidates lookin’ fer the nomination of the Republican Party come next November, and it seems that at least one o’ them might announce very soon. Woid is that Robby Guthrie, the GOP member of the Bored of Ed, might announce veddy soon. That’s whot Madame Olga told Cobina over tea last week. The question then remains how long will it be before Ray Collins III, the other mentioned candidate, decides that he will announce his intentions.
Then the question remains, how does either of them git most of the people on the Town Committee off their posterior sections to do some real work? The announcing is easy. Awakening that totterin’ band of do-nothings, that’ll be the chore.
In the “Ain’t we been here before” department, I see the city is gonna have a drive against sandwich board signs along sidewalks. Been here, done it. Several times. It seems every two or three years we have one o’ these sweeps that lasts about 48 hours with a lotta hoopla. Then it goes back the way it was until another two or three years goes by. Effen Cobina had a buck fer everytime she’s seen one o’ these things, she’d have about 10 bucks.
Remember, next Thursday the 14th, the DOT is gonna have a public hearin’ on the railroad station at the Savin Rock Conference Center. This is the second hearin’ scheduled. The foist is on the Orange station  on Dec. 11 at High Plains School. Effen yer interested, Felicia, git in yore gassamobuggy and head on down. It should be interesting to see whot goes on.
With that bit o’ chatter, I’ll close this time till next, mitt luff und kizzez,
