It seems like a good idea, and even the MMMs decided they were gonna take part, though yew should’ve seen the puss on Gene Sullivan when Madame Olga mentioned the MMM glee club wanted to do a night of holiday ditties. I may be wrong, but it seemed ol’ Gino wasn’t tooo thrilled with the notion.

It’ll be interestin’ to see jest how successful things are. There are a lotta good places down in the center, and they’ve been overlooked by the public fer many years. Here’s a good oppertunity to make that right.

It almost sounds like a program to git offen the sauce, but hizzoner announced a three-step program last week in these very pages in order to bring down last year’s deficit and woik on the bondin’ debt. As yew know there are many who think everything should be put in bringin’ down taxes, but hizzoner things yew hafta solve the problems that brought yew here.

Well, it seems that one o’ the steps o’ this program that might bring the most resentment/opposition might be the audit of personal property that hizzoner wants to do. After the story was published, we can think of one or two local business owners that thought the bizz community was bein’ pressured again.

Remember, this was the group that our erstwhile tax assessor sight unseen upped the assessments on for the three years previous in order to git more kopecks into the city’s coffers. Now, effen there is an audit, some well-intentioned business owners might git hit again with even more taxes.

Effen hizzoner is gonna do this one, he’s gonna need a PR job like one yew never saw before. This one could git him in boo-coo trouble.

Meanwhile, Cobina hoid from Sammy Bluejay that another big announcement might be comin’ from the Building Oversight Committee in the near future. Sammy didn’t have all the details, but there seems to be more news, and it’s gonna be in the city’s favor. Around these parts that ain’t somethin’ that happens toooo often.

Already, the BOC has topped $4 million in finding money, and their woik might bring down the expected deficit from the last fiscal year. Keep yore eyes on this one, it could git interesting.

Meanwhile, the word about the berg has begun who will, won’t or might decide to run fer the thoid floor in the next municipal election. A lotta speculation is around who will carry the standard o’ the Better Future Party. As yew might’ve hoid through Iva Lootey, who keeps up with setch things, there was some speculation the former hizzoner’s wife might be interested in runnin’ fer the office.

Then, we hoid that Debbie Collins will take the plunge. She’s been talkin’ about maybe bein’ the foist female mayor o’ the city. Collins, who likes to portray herself as non-political, tho’ we all know diff’rent, might decide to throw her Easter bonnet into the ring, but we got at least until the summer to figger it out. Tell yew whot, effen people start puttin’ their pitchers in the papyrus, it’s a good bet.

Still, that ain’t the only name bein’ bandied about outta the BFP. Nope. Woid is that former fed’ral marshal and former mayoral Guy Friday John O’Connor might be interested in runnin’. In fack, that seems to be the name most hoid over the last few weeks. Soooo, we’ll hafta see effen the “smoke and fire” bromide woiks this time.

Over in the GOP side, it seems that  Bobby Guthrie is contemplatin’ the run. That’s whot is bein’ hoid from the likes o’ Sammy Bluejay. Sammy sez that members of the town committee – setch as it is – are hearin’ that Guthrie might wanna put his name in the mix fer the party’s nod.

Whilst that’s going on there is another Collins who might be interested in takin’ up the GOP cause – Ray Collins III. Woid is from Sammy that Collins has expressed his own interest in runnin’ fer the top spot, and ain’t quite willing to hand over the party’s nomination, yet.

Whotever happens, yew know that we’re gonna hear about it. That’s fer sure.
