Dear Eleanore Turkington:

I would like to know about the parking lots on Ocean Avenue between Grove Place and Fairview Avenue. They are chained off and have signs that say they are private.  I went on vision appraisal and cannot find anything about them. I would like to know if they are private, who owns them, who is paying taxes on them and if not, why are they not open to the public.

As was indicated in a recent on line Gripe Vine that was published Oct. 25, the city of West Haven has no established ordinance for Tag Sales, therefore it’s the homeowner’s choice to hold a tag sale providing it meets requirements as stated previously in Peter Barrett’s article. 

There seems to be a lot of concern for the flooding on Cooper Road, which the city has been correcting. I ask. Has the flooding issue regarding Painter Drive been forgotten?

I would like to address this letter to the parents of West Haven, hoping they may learn something they may not know. Most parents I know do not want their children going on the website Myspace.com, or if they do allow it, it is in their own homes and monitored for the most part.  My concern is that any child who has a library card can walk into any West Haven Library, jump on a computer and can sit on Myspace.com for a few hours with no one watching them or monitoring anything they are doing.  I have been told by my children and their friends that they are all able to do this.  I have also witnessed it myself many times while visiting any of the West Haven libraries.
