Well, sweets, the yams are gone, the turkey’s been picked to the bone, and whot’s left is the four-week slog to another holiday. And don’t gimme any o’ that “Happy Holiday” stuff. Yew know as well as I that it’s Christmas season, pure and simple. Who gets the bird

Here we are sweets, it’s Thanksgiving Day, a big one around here. Artie Yost and his committee have been woiking hard and long to get the annual community dinner ready. But, like most people hereabouts, Artie kind o’ blanched when the Mystick Maidens of the Marsh said they could volunteer with the dinner. Artie is not one to pussyfoot around, and jest said that whilst he thanked us for the offer, he didn’t think he could accept our help. Effen we didn’t git that reaction from everyone else, I think the MMMs would take it personally.

Well, whotta ya know, sweets, jest after I posted my weekly screed with yew, our old berg was given a prestigious recognition – a great place to raise the kiddies. Yup, Business Week Magazine and its online edition mentioned West Haven, and put it right up there with other nice places.

Sweetie, it was the wag who came in last week and said, “You never run out of things to write about in this town. No matter who’s in office, no matter who the characters are, there’s always something for you to get down for Felicia.” Yew know, sweets, he’s right. There was a moment this week when I thought I wasn’t gonna have very much fer yew, but was I ever wrong. I think we’ll be able to have our usual lengthy report, jest like every week.

By the time yew git this missive honey, the nation will finally put to rest one of the longest and most tedious presidential campaigns this body has ever seen. It’ll also be a day of mourning if the nation picks a fascist or rejoicing if it picks a flawed, but more mainstream candidate. Yep, I don’t know who’ll win, but we can only hope the voters aren’t as stupid and the media and the propagandists think. That’s why Cobina stopped bein’ a demmycrat when she knew better. Nuthin’ but people lookin’ fer a take and politicos willin’ to give it to ‘em fer their vote.
