A state arbitration panel last week upheld the original police arbitration award that was issued by the state Board of Mediation and Arbitration in March.

According to the study, the city would save $10 million in the long run by switching new hires to a 401(k) plan.

The three-member panel voted unanimously to uphold the arbitration board’s original award, which requires new hires to enroll in a 401(k) plan.
