Thursday, 02 September 2010 00:00

The Savin Rock Carousel Committee was recently awarded a grant by Wachovia/Wells Fargo of Orange. The committee's goal is to return a grand carousel to the shoreline in West Haven where the Savin Rock Amusement park once stood.

Wachovia/Wells Fargo sponsors a Community Partners Program where each store is able to donate $1000 to a charity or non-profit of their choice. James B. Bruneau, store manager of the Orange bank, chose the Savin Rock Carousel Committee because he remembers how fondly his parents and grandparents spoke about riding the Savin Rock "Flying Horses" when they were young. The grant will assist the committee in its efforts to restore a merry-go-round to the city of West Haven.
